"We're Eliminating the Schools so that the Young are Easier to Control" - This message brought to you by the Pennsylvania Department of Fear

This is the third poster in a series of propaganda posters made for The Department of Trepidation, an organization dedicated to helping and informing the public of what their government is up to.

You can view the full site here: The Department of Trepidation

Right now, the Governor of Pennsylvania is nearly adamant about closing as many public schools in Philadelphia as possible. In the past, dumbing down the people has meant its easier to control them, and in my opinion that is what's happening now.

EDIT: To answer all the "schools are about conformity", that's true to some degree. But, as someone else commented about that, its easier to control stupid people in general. If someone is taught to conform, that's one thing; to eliminate the ability to think for yourself is another.

"It's easier to control stupid people in general...

Agreed  But the thing is, schools won't make you wise. Definitely not with the useless crap 99% of schools teach these days. The schools teach mostly stupid rules of behavior to be "normal" or plain facts about somewhat random things. Yet they teach nothing about relationship/connections between all those things, they teach nothing about thinking out of the box and most importantly - they teach *nothing* about living and enjoying life :sun:

After all, wisdom has actually nothing to do with knowledge.

Agreed, wisdom has nothing to do with knowledge, but you still need knowledge, and vice-versa.

You'd think that children are easier to control in schools because that's where the government can feed them bullshit~

Meanwhile... our television becomes trashier by the day... Thought Jerry Springer was bad? What about all those "Reality" TV shows? Garbage like "The Kardashians," "Jersey Shore," "The 'Real' Housewives," etc., ad nauseum, are *very* popular these days... and folks even go as far as idolizing these _abhorrent_ excuses for human beings.

The news..? It was bad before... but now we can't get by a single day where *actual* matters regarding jobs, the financial crisis that's still going on, and political stupidity without *most* of it being ignored for things like "Celebrity X died!" or "Look, more stuff about Gay Marriage, which won't make/break the country but yall love to debate over it!" or god knows what... just mindless drivel. I mean really, when you have Comedies like "The Daily Show" being more informative than the News itself... you've got a serious problem!

One good thing I see here is that populations are less vulnerable to lost educational systems. We have the ability to educate ourselves in ways the world has never had before.
I used to have to take a trip to the library and dig up an encyclopedia for a fragment of the info I can pop up on wikipedia in seconds from anywhere I happen to be. Is the info always perfect? NO, but neither was the info in those old encyclopedias.
I can cross reference more easily online as well, and check out counter opinions while I'm at it.

I'd rather take control of the education of my children than leave them in the hands of the state. :/
