War Is Peace by luvataciousskull War Is Peace by luvataciousskull
"War Is Peace"

This is the first of a series of pieces inspired by Nineteen Eighty-Four. I wanted to do a series that was based on the three slogans of the party, and how they related to current events.

This piece in particular was inspired by the fact that the same week Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize, he was considering putting more troops in Afghanistan. When he accepted the award, he had already made the final decision.

"War Is Peace"... in many ways, that was his speech when he accepted the award, that in order for peace to be possible, there must be war. Do I agree? To a degree, yes. One must always be ready and willing to fight in order to preserve oneself, and to that degree, the only way to keep peace sometime is through violence.

Sure, keep telling that as long as people forget about who actually started all this surveillance, wars and so on ...

And he approved more drone strikes in Pakistan than Bush. Just thought I'd say that...

First off, the Nobel Prize award was nothing more than an ass-kissing.

Second, Obama's party is the reason we are still at war. If our soldiers were allowed to fight the war as it was intended to be fought, it would more than likely be over by now.

More often than not, those who whine about war while their nation is at war are the ones doing the most to prevent peace. Shut up, let our soldiers do their job the right way, and you'll get your precious peace.

Although I do agree with the fact that sometimes we have no choice but to fight as we may be pushed into a corner, so to speak, I think this quote is quite relevant here, basically saying fighting does not necessarily lead to peace, we've got to find the cause's:

"If you look at life like there is good and evil, then the only possible strategy is to eradicate the evil. This dualistic outlook on life can never lead to peace, as it does not address what created the violence in the first place."

- Carl Johan Callmen, Ph. D.

What do you think?
That aside, I like the poster, looks really good in it's simplicity!

Thanks, and that's a good point.

People, by their nature, are programed to think in a dualistic way. Our mammalian brain, or simian brain, is still basically intact. That's the part of our brain that controls stuff like fight and flight. To it, the world is black and white. In turn, so are we when it comes to conflicts.

Like I say, "As long as there's life on earth, there will be war."

unfortunately that's true! Unless we can tap into our spiritual brain and the common consciousness that were all attached too!
